School personnel play an important role in identifying students who may qualify for McKinney-Vento protections and helping support access to enrollment, attendance, school stability, and educational services. Throughout this course, participants will review federal requirements, school responsibilities, and supportive practices designed to help improve educational access and participation for students experiencing homelessness.

This course covers:

• Recognizing possible indicators of homelessness in school settings
• Understanding student rights and protections under the McKinney-Vento Act
• Support enrollment, attendance, participation, and school stability
• Identifying the role of the local homeless education liaison
• Applying trauma-informed and student-centered practices when supporting students and families experiencing homelessness
