Identifying and Reporting Abuse: Every Child Matters

ONLINE COURSE OVERVIEW

The course covers the physical and behavioral warning signs of abuse, the four major types of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect) and the procedures for handling and reporting concerns while maintaining privacy and confidentiality. Participants will learn how to recognize the warning signs of abuse and will gain an awareness of the appropriate actions to take to help ensure the safety and well-being of every student in their care.

This course covers:

  • Identifying signs of child abuse and neglect – learn to recognize physical, behavioral and emotional indicators of abuse
  • Understanding reporting responsibilities – gain clarity on legal duties as a mandated reporter and how to follow proper reporting procedures
  • Responding appropriately to disclosures – develop the ability to respond calmly, supportively and without judgment when a child shares sensitive informatio.
