Students with behavioral challenges have been misunderstood. Dr. Stuart Ablon credits research in the neurosciences with discovering why some students exhibit chronic challenging behaviors. Ablon suggests that these students have a learning disability in three cognitive domains: flexibility, frustration tolerance and problem-solving.
Watch Dr. Ablon contend that challenging student behaviors are often signs of skill deficits.
Harvard Professor, Founder of Think:Kids and author of The School Discipline Fix, Dr. Ablon will deliver a plenary session entitled Rethinking Challenging Behaviors: Skill, Not Will at the School Discipline Conference in Las Vegas.
