13dec11:30 am1:00 pmLive Webinar: Stop Burnout/Compassion Fatigue: How Educators Can Build Team and Individual Resiliency

Event Information

Working day-to-day with students can be overwhelming. As educators deal with the pressures of their own jobs (tight schedules, unrealistic expectations, lack of support, lack of positive feedback), while also helping students cope with the impact of traumatic situations, the psychological load can become unbearable. Without realizing it, educators may start feeling resentful, detached and exhausted — symptoms of a unique kind of burnout called ‘compassion fatigue.”

This 90-minute webinar with Kim Johancen, LCP, will provide information regarding risk factors for burnout and compassion fatigue for educators who are on the front line with students. She will discuss critical components for a “Psychological First Aid Toolkit” that includes strategies and interventions to amplify resiliency for the individual and for the team.

Ms. Johancen will offer teachers, counselors, social workers, nurses, administrators, etc. an in-depth look at both prevention and intervention strategies. Attendees will learn about the differences between compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma. Ms. Johancen will also address specific challenges teams may face when one or more members experience either compassion fatigue or vicarious trauma – and how specific policies and procedures may help prevent burnout. Participants will receive a roadmap to build strengths and increase resiliency through specific activities
